Nonhlanhla Bakasa better known as AdoWord is a Professional Speaker, Entrepreneur, Television personality as well as Psychology student at University of South Africa.
She was a co-presenter of a TV show called Geleza Nathi (2014-2017), prior to the show Nonhlanhla also co-presented Matrics Uploaded which was an entertaining educational show for matriculants (2010-2013).
Prior to joining Matrics Uploaded she was a presenter of yet another TV show called Memba’z Only (2006 and 2008).
Nonhlanhla is the founder and Managing Director of AdoWord Multimedia. Through the company she has managed to provide her services to schools, and organisations including ESKOM, Standard Bank, University of Mpumalanga, Women’s University in Africa (Zimbabwe), National Home Builders Registration Council and the City of Ekurhuleni. The company has also run community development projects and it offers motivational programs on radio where she motivates and encourages people to become the best that they can be despite the circumstances they may be in. The company is growing by embarking on other projects that will educate the nation, continent and the world at large about disabilities at a much larger scale.
She uses her life story as well as her achievements to motivate individuals and large groups. She is an activist for Persons with Disabilities (as she is a paraplegic herself) and has addressed various crowds on the issue. Even though she is a paraplegic, she refuses to let her disability define her. This young lady takes an active role in shaping the community, by participating in outreaches and various NGO programs such as the national annual disability awareness campaign known as Africa where she is one of the ambassadors of the campaign. In addition to this she is an affiliate of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities were she represents them on various media platforms regarding the topic of disability. Nonhlanhla is the chairperson of The AdoWord Disability Trust which is primarily aimed at the development of the youth and persons with disabilities. She also sits as a trustee of the Disability Empowerment Concerns trust, which is an empowerment investment trust established to enhance the sustainability of 6 National Organisations of Persons with Disabilities who render Socio-Economic Development services for the benefit of persons with disabilities in South Africa.
Nonhlanhla takes all her achievements and responsibilities thus far as a mere foundation, she is eager and willing to grow even further as she plays her part in building a brighter tomorrow by showing everyone that nothing is impossible.
